GOT ANOTHER COLD NIGHT COMING OUR WAY. EXCEPT THIS TIME IT WILL BE MUCH COLDER. AND THE COLDEST NIGHT HERE SO FAR OF THE SEASON IS IN STORE FOR US ACROSS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AND SOUTH MISSISSIPPI. HERE’S WHERE WE STAND RIGHT NOW FROM THE LAST 24 HOURS. LOOK AT THAT COLDER DIFFERENCE. I MEAN, WE’RE TALKING AT LEAST BETWEEN 15 TO 17 DEGREES COOLER HERE ACROSS MUCH OF THE AREA. AND THAT IS BECAUSE OF THAT VERY STRONG ARCTIC BLAST OF COLD AIR FROM THAT FRONT THAT MOVED THROUGH HIGH TEMPERATURES TODAY IN NEW ORLEANS, REACHED 55 DEGREES. WE’RE SUPPOSED TO BE AT 73 DEGREES. SO THAT GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF WHERE WE SHOULD BE FOR THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. THE LOW IS 44, THE AVERAGE IS 55. SO AGAIN, WE’RE BELOW AVERAGE IN TERMS OF BOTH OUR HIGHS AND OUR LOW TEMPERATURES. LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW CURRENTLY SITTING INTO THOSE LOW 40S ON THE NORTH SHORE. UPPER 40S TO THE LOWER 50S CURRENTLY BEING MEASURED ON THE SOUTH SHORE. BUT AS WE GO THROUGH TIME, I’M GOING TO SHOW YOU HERE IN A SECOND. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO GO DOWN, BUT AT LEAST THE GOOD NEWS THE WINDS HAVE COME DOWN A LITTLE BIT SINCE THIS MORNING. IT WAS A LITTLE BIT BREEZY EARLIER TODAY, BUT YOU CAN SEE THE WINDS HERE AT AROUND 5 TO 10 MILES AN HOUR FOR MOST LOCATIONS, A LITTLE BIT BREEZIER DOWN TOWARDS THE COAST THOUGH. CHECK OUT THE LOWER TEMPERATURES INTO THE MID TO UPPER 20S ON THE NORTH SHORE TOMORROW MORNING. THIS IS WHAT WE WILL WAKE UP TO ON THE SOUTH SHORE INTO THE 30S. SO DEFINITELY A VERY COLD NIGHT AND I DO EXPECT A LOT OF LOCATIONS, ESPECIALLY FOR YOU ON THE NORTH SHORE. WE HAVE THAT FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT TO GET BELOW FREEZING INTO THOSE SUBFREEZING TEMPERATURE LEVELS AND SOUTH SOUTH MISSISSIPPI. ALSO UNDER THAT FREEZE WARNING, THE RIVER PARISHES AND DOWN TOWARDS PARTS OF THE BAYOU AND ALSO THE WEST BANK HERE TOO, THIS IS GOING TO GO UNTIL 9 A.M. TUESDAY MORNING. SO BASICALLY THE BOTTOM LINE IS THE FIRST FREEZE OF THE SEASON IS UNDERWAY. THE COLDEST AIR LATE TONIGHT THROUGH EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. SUBFREEZING TEMPERATURES ON THE NORTH SHORE AND TOWARDS THE WEST BANK. IMPACTS. WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE PROTECT OURSELVES, THE PETS, THE PLANTS AND OF COURSE THE PIPES AS WELL. WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU WRAP THOSE UP AND DRESS IN PLENTY OF LAYERS AS YOU’RE OUT AND ABOUT HERE FOR TOMORROW, BECAUSE TEMPERATURES WILL DEFINITELY BE TUMBLING DOWN. BUT YOU CAN SEE TOMORROW AFTERNOON WE RISE UP INTO THOSE UPPER 50S TO THE LOW 60S ON THE NORTH SHORE, AND WE PRETTY MUCH SAY THE SAME THING FOR THE SOUTH SHORE HERE, TOO. SO I EXPECT MANY LOCATIONS TO BE REGISTERING VERY SIMILAR, LIKE TEMPERATURES BEFORE A WARM UP IS UNDERWAY STARTING WEDNESDAY. LOOK AT THAT MID TO UPPER 70S GETTING CLOSE TO THOSE LOWER 80S BY THE WEEKEND AND POSSIBLY INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK AS WELL. THE REASON BEING IS BECAUSE THIS DIP HERE IN THE JET STREAM IS FORECAST TO MOVE EAST. IT’S GOING TO BE REPLACED BY THIS RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE BUILDING ACROSS THE NATION’S MIDSECTION AND ALSO DOWN TOWARDS SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA. AND THAT’S REALLY GOING TO HELP US WARM UP HERE GOING FORWARD. NOT TO MENTION THIS AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL MOVE EAST, WILL BE ON THE WEST SIDE. SO WE’LL GET THAT SOUTH WIND COMING UP FROM THE GULF HERE TOO, AT THE SURFACE. SO THAT’S WHY OUR TEMPERATURES WILL GO UP HERE BY THE MID WEEK STARTING WEDNESDAY AND CONTINUING THROUGH FRIDAY. AND ALSO NOT TO MENTION ALSO AS WE HEAD INTO THE WEEKEND HERE AS WELL. WE GOT MUCH WARMER AIR HERE COMING UP. AND THEN WE’RE WATCHING THIS DISTURBANCE BACK TO THE WEST THAT COULD POSSIBLY GIVE US OUR NEXT BEST CHANCE OF RAIN BY MONDAY, BUT I GOT RAIN CHANCES AT 0% TOMORROW THROUGH SATURDAY, SO THINGS ARE STILL LOOKING VERY DRY AROUND HERE IN THE TROPICS. EVERYTHING IS QUIET. THERE’S NO TROPICAL DEVELOPMENT EXPECTED ANYWHERE ACROSS THE ATLANTIC BASIN OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS. HURRICANE SEASON OFFICIALLY WRAPS UP NOVEMBER 30TH. THAT’S A COUPLE OF WEEKS. LET’S LOOK AT YOUR WDSU FIRST WARNING. SEVEN DAY FORECAST. PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND WARMING UP TO INCREASING CLOUDS ON THE WAY SUNDAY AHEAD OF THAT DISTURBANCE. THAT COULD GIVE US A CHANCE OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ON MONDAY. HIGHS AROUND 77 WITH THE STORMY WEATHER POTENTIALLY ON MONDAY.
