Orlando Magic pulled off an incredible escape against the Portland Trail Blazers, earning their fifth win of the season at home — 115–112.

In a wild finish, Desmond Bane sealed the victory for the Magic with a dramatic buzzer-beating three-pointer.

Orlando controlled the game for most of the night. They led by three points at halftime and held an 11-point cushion entering the fourth quarter, appearing to be in full control. With a double-digit lead and two minutes remaining, the Magic seemed headed for an easy win — but poor defense and missed shots allowed the Blazers to come back to life.

Deni Avdija hit back-to-back threes to cut the deficit to just two points. After Desmond Bane missed a shot, Toumani Camara grabbed the rebound and found Shaedon Sharpe, who attacked Franz Wagner and drew a foul, earning two free throws. Sharpe made one of two, and Wagner smartly ran down nine seconds after grabbing the rebound. Then Paolo Banchero went to the line with 11 seconds left — but missed both free throws.

That gave Tiago Splitter, the Blazers’ head coach, a chance to draw up a potential game-winning play. The Brazilian coach designed a brilliant inbounds action: Camara lobbed the ball to Jerami Grant, who scored through contact from Banchero and converted the and-one, giving Portland a two-point lead with 10 seconds left.

Banchero redeemed himself with a tough layup to tie the game at five seconds remaining, drawing a foul on Avdija in the process — but he missed yet another free throw, which could have been the game-winner.

Portland had one more chance, and Splitter called another timeout to set up a final play. However, the Blazers fumbled the inbounds, and Paolo Banchero stole the ball from Jrue Holiday with two seconds remaining. Magic coach Jamahl Mosley immediately called a timeout to set up one last play — and Orlando made it count.

The ball ended up in the hands of the best three-point shooter on the floor. Franz Wagner found Desmond Bane, who drilled the game-winning three at the buzzer!

Paolo Banchero led the Magic with 28 points and 9 rebounds, while Desmond Bane added 22 points. Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. each scored 19, with Wagner adding 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks, and Carter contributing 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks.

For Portland, Shaedon Sharpe led the way with 31 points, Deni Avdija scored 27, Jerami Grant added 17, and Jrue Holiday finished with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists.
