Philadelphia Sixers center Joel Embiid has been ruled out for Tuesday’s game vs. the Boston Celtics with what is being described as right knee soreness.

The interesting thing to note with this designation is that this is not the left knee that Embiid had scooped in the offseason. This designation is for right knee soreness, not management, which has been the designation on nights he has not played on back-to-backs.

Embiid’s Recent Workload and Performance vs Toronto

On Saturday, Embiid played a season-high 26 minutes and finished with a season-high 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting, 8-of-9 from the line, six rebounds, four assists, one block, and one three-pointer in the win over the Toronto Raptors.

He did not play in Sunday’s back-to-back against the Detroit Pistons with what was called left knee management.

With Embiid out, Andre Drummond started the game on Sunday against the Pistons. Adem Bona is also a candidate to start against Boston.

Embiid played in just 19 games last season with a left knee injury, and it’s concerning to hear that he now has an issue with his right knee.

Additional Injuries for Tonight’s Game

Also not playing tonight are Paul George and Dominick Barlow. George has yet to play this season as he returns from offseason knee surgery, and Barlow has been out with a laceration on his right elbow.
