Daniss Jenkins after clutch game to help Pistons beat Wizards in OT
Daniss Jenkins on his 24-point game, including buzzer-beating 3-pointer to send Pistons-Wizards to OT, Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 at Little Caesars Arena.
After moving on from general manager Nico Harrison, the Dallas Mavericks may be eyeing a Detroit Pistons executive to replace him.
Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban is pushing their ownership to hire Pistons senior vice president of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey, according to reports from ESPN and NBA insider Marc Stein. Lindsey, who joined Trajan Langdon’s staff last summer, previously was the Mavericks’ senior advisor during 2023-24.
Lindsey is a significant voice in a front office that guided the Pistons’ turnaround last season. Detroit improved from 14 to 44 wins and before falling to the New York Knicks in six games in the opening round of the playoffs. Their moves since he joined include signing Malik Beasley to a one-year, $6 million contract and trading for Tim Hardaway Jr. – two veterans who were instrumental in the team’s turnaround last season – and trading for Dennis Schroder before during February’s trade deadline.
Prior to his time in Dallas, Lindsey spent 11 seasons with the Utah Jazz where he spent two seasons as executive vice president of basketball operations, seven as general manager and two as senior basketball advisor. He also is a former San Antonio Spurs executive.
The Mavericks have struggled to a 3-8 record while battling injuries in the wake of February’s controversial trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, widely considered one of the most shocking and uneven trades in sports history. In the wake of Harrison’s firing, they reportedly have promoted assistant general managers Michael Finley and Matt Riccardi to temporarily run basketball operations.
The Pistons are off to their best start in 20 years, winning their seventh-straight game in a 137-135 overtime thriller over the Washington Wizards to improve to 9-2 overall.
