The situation revolving around Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks is starting to pick up. This after, the Bucks crashed out of the first round of the NBA Playoffs against the Indiana Pacers. This will mark their first direct offseason engagement following the early playoff exit.
NBA Insider Chris Haynes shared a recent update on the Giannis Antetokounmpo trade front. He suggested that a contact has been made between the Greek Freak and the Milwaukee Bucks management for a meeting. Giannis’ future with the franchise hinges on the outcome of this important meeting.
Chris Haynes said, “I was told the Bucks made contact with Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier this morning and sources relate to me that a meeting is expected to be scheduled for mid-next week. This is where Giannis is going to have the chance to speak with Bucks brass and talk about the direction of the team. This is going to be a very, very crucial meeting next week.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo gave his all for the Milwaukee Bucks this season. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists. He scored with a field goal percentage of 60.1 percent. However, when it came to an overall team performance, the Bucks’ roster relied too much on the Greek and fell flat in the playoffs.
Giannis Antetokounmpo to Discuss Bucks’ Direction
The future of Giannis Antetokounmpo remains undecided and despite rumors of trade, the 30-year-old has not decided on leaving Bucks. He still wants to give a last chance to the franchise. In the meeting next week, Giannis is expected to inquire about the ideas of the front office for next season.
At the peak of his career, Giannis is unwilling to waste another year without a legitimate title shot. If the Bucks give a word to him regarding a roster boost in the offseason, it is likely that the MVP candidate decides to stay. The decision comes down to how the Milwaukee Bucks will act in the off season.
With Damian Lillard injury, the roster strength has further receded. The Bucks also face several complex contract decisions that could shape their offseason strategy. If the Bucks decide for a rebuild, Giannis Antetokounmpo might not be too keen on staying. He will then be actively looking to move to a title contender roster where teams like Houston Rockets, and OKC Thunder come to picture.
