Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is listed as questionable for a Nov. 12 matchup against the Boston Celtics due to right ankle soreness.
Morant and the Grizzlies are on the second night of a back to back after a 133-120 loss on Nov. 11 against the New York Knicks. Morant started and finished that game, totaling 16 points and 10 assists in 34 minutes.
This is the first time Morant has appeared on the injury report since the second game of the season. He has played in 11 of the Grizzlies’ 12 games. He missed a Nov. 2 matchup against the Toronto Raptors due to a one-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.
Morant missed all five Grizzlies preseason games while dealing with a sprain on his left ankle.
Morant is averaging 18.9 points and 8.1 assists per game this season. He’s currently in a shooting slump that has lowered his field goal percentage to 35.2% this season.
The Grizzlies are short on point guard depth, so they’ll need to be creative if Morant is out. Guards Javon Small (left turf toe), Scotty Pippen (left great toe surgery) and Ty Jerome (right calf strain) are all out against the Celtics.
Cam Spencer and Vince Williams Jr. would likely be the next options to play minutes at point guard.
