We are now into the early stages of the 2025-26 college basketball season and it didn’t take long for some epic history to be made.

With their scintillating offensive display, the Lancers now hold the record for the most points ever scored in a game by a women’s college basketball team throughout any level of the sport, whether that be the NAIA or NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as per Grace Athletics.

The previous highest mark for most points scored in a college game was 159 points which was shared by both Grambling and Oklahoma Baptist, as per gclancers.com. Grambling held the previous record at the NCAA level, after they put up 159 points in a game in 2024, whilst in the NAIA division, Oklahoma Baptist also amassed a points total of 159 back in 1995.

Overall, Grace College, who are based in Winona Lake, Indiana, tallied at least 46 points in three out of the four quarters against Ohio Christian, and they were scoring at an average rate of 4.3 points every minute.

Maddy Poynter finished with a game high 34 points and she was one of eight players for the Lancers who reached double figures in scoring.

The outcome of the game was never seriously in doubt after Grace compiled 93 points in the first half alone. Their 93 point half also saw the team claim the NAIA record for most points in one half of basketball, and was ultimately only one point shy of UConn’s NCAA record which the Huskies reached in 2018.
