The Washington Wizards (1-10) travel to face the Houston Rockets (6-3) tonight at the Toyota Center in Houston.

The Wizards are in a free fall, having dropped nine straight. Their defense has been the NBA’s worst so far, allowing 129.2 points per game, and they’ve already given up between 133 and 148 points six times — more than half their contests.

Veteran CJ McCollum has been a lone bright spot, scoring 42 in Monday’s overtime loss to the Detroit Pistons and 25 in each of the two games before that. Young cornerstones Alex Sarr (18.5 PPG) and Kyshawn George (15.8 PPG) show promise, but the roster as a whole simply isn’t competitive. It’s clear early on that Washington is headed toward another lottery finish.

Houston, meanwhile, has found its stride. The Rockets have won six of seven after dropping their first two games — both narrow losses that could have gone their way.

Their offense is rolling, powered by Kevin Durant and Alperen Sengun combining for 47.6 points per game, while Amen Thompson has taken a leap, averaging 17.6.

In total, six Rockets are scoring in double figures, fueling the league’s third-best offense at 122.8 points per game. And unlike Washington, Houston can defend — which is why this matchup looks lopsided.

Prediction

With Houston’s offensive firepower, home-court advantage, and Washington’s defensive collapse, expect the Rockets to cruise.

Prediction: Rockets 135, Wizards 105
