The Atlanta Hawks (6-5) visit the Sacramento Kings (3-8) tonight at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
The Kings will be without their top scorer, Zach LaVine (25.2 PPG) and key sixth man Malik Monk (14.2 PPG). That puts a heavy load on DeMar DeRozan (20.5 PPG) and Domantas Sabonis (15.8 PPG), with Russell Westbrook expected to provide the spark in LaVine’s place.
Westbrook did exactly that earlier this month against the Golden State Warriors, delivering a vintage Wess triple-double with 23 points, 16 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Sabonis is also rounding into form after a slow start, averaging 19.0 points this month compared to 12.5 in October. But Sacramento’s defense is unraveling. The Kings have allowed 132.7 points per game over their last three outings — all losses — and now rank as the league’s fourth-worst defense. Combined with the loss of their leading scorer, the margin for error is thin.
Atlanta remains without Trae Young for at least a few more weeks, but the Hawks have handled his absence well, going 5–2 without their star point guard.
Jalen Johnson has emerged as a reliable No. 1 option at 20.1 PPG, while Kristaps Porziņģis (17.9 PPG) and Nickeil Alexander-Walker (17.6 PPG) continue to give Atlanta balanced scoring.
In total, seven Hawks average double figures — a depth advantage that, paired with their more stable defense, gives Atlanta a clear edge tonight.
Prediction
Atlanta’s depth and defensive stability should outweigh Sacramento’s scoring limitations and recent defensive struggles.
Prediction: Hawks 117, Kings 107
