The Phoenix Suns (6-5) visit the Dallas Mavericks (3-8) tonight at the American Airlines Center in Dallas
The Suns have won three straight and four of their last five. The most impressive of those victories came against the San Antonio Spurs — a 130–118 win that showcased Phoenix’s offensive potential, with seven players scoring in double figures.
Devin Booker continues to anchor the scoring load following the trade that sent Kevin Durant to Houston, but Grayson Allen has emerged as a strong No. 2 option. Allen is averaging 18.6 points per game and erupted for 42 in Monday night’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans.
The recent return of Dillon Brooks has also provided a lift. He’s averaging 17 points over his last two games, though his efficiency dipped against the Pelicans, shooting just 31% from the field.
The team hit a setback with Jalen Green — a key part of the Durant trade — expected to miss 4–6 weeks with a hamstring injury. Green had a strong debut last week, scoring 29 points in a win over the LA Clippers. Phoenix has shown it can win without him, but his explosive scoring would take the ceiling of this team much higher.
As for Dallas, the organization made a major move by firing general manager Nico Harrison, but that does little to solve the on-court issues. The Mavericks have dropped four of their last five, including a close loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday.
One bright spot: No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg delivered his best performance yet, finishing with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block — a promising sign for the franchise.
Anthony Davis remains out, and the Mavericks are still awaiting Kyrie Irving’s return in the coming weeks. His presence should lift an offense that currently ranks last in the NBA at just 107.2 points per game.
Predictions
The Mavericks continue to struggle to generate offense consistently. With Booker, Allen, and Brooks all in rhythm, the Suns should control the pace and create separation early.
Prediction: Suns 123, Mavericks 111
