Still a lot of basketball to be played but……

If the season ended today, OKC would have the below picks in the 2026 Draft:

7 (via LAC)
9 (via Utah if 9-30)
23 (via Philadelphia if 5-30)
26 (via Houston if 5-30)
35 (via Dallas)

Despite winning the 2025 NBA Championship earlier this year, the Oklahoma City Thunder could continue to build out their roster with high draft picks.

Thanks to savvy front office maneuvering by Thunder executive Sam Presti over the years, Oklahoma City may have to more lottery picks in the 2026 NBA Draft. One could swap from the Los Angeles Clippers while the other may also convey from the Utah Jazz.

In fact, Oklahoma City is currently projected to add a total of five picks within the first 35 selections on draft night.

Remember: Their last two first-round draft picks, 2024 No. 12 overall pick Nikola Topić and 2025 No. 15 overall pick Thomas Sorber have not yet played an NBA game due to injuries.

Oklahoma City has a crowded rotation, so especially if Topić and Sorber make their debuts next season, there is very little chance they will have much playing time or even roster spots to offer. But they could use any of these picks to make further improvements to their already outstanding team in potential trades.

How did the Thunder get the Clippers pick?

Current projection if season ended today: No. 7 overall

Current odds at top-4 pick if season ended today: 31.9 percent

Current odds at No. 1 overall if season ended today: 7.5 percent

Even though Paul George is no longer on the Clippers and now plays for the Philadelphia 76ers, the organization is still paying off the hefty trade package they sent to Oklahoma City back in 2019.

Some of those assets included Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a draft pick used to later select Jalen Williams, but this is the gift that keeps giving for the Thunder.

The Clippers are having a rough start to the season and it may not get better any time soon. Their free agency addition of Bradley Beal does not look great as he will miss the remainder of the campaign due to an injury.

How did the Thunder get the Jazz pick?

Current projection if season ended today: No. 9 overall

Current odds of conveying to OKC if season ended today: 79.7 percent

Oklahoma City received a protected first-round pick from the Utah Jazz as part of a salary dump involving Derrick Favors in 2021.

The pick will only go to the Thunder if it falls outside of the first eight picks. But as of right now, based on the current standings, that is considered statistically likely.

Utah could play worse as the season progresses, especially if they want to make sure they have the rights to their own draft pick and decide to trade key players like Lauri Markkanen.

How did the Thunder get the 76ers pick?

Current projection if season ended today: No. 23 overall

Oklahoma City received this pick when the Philadelphia 76ers traded two draft picks and Al Horford for Danny Green in 2020.

How did the Thunder get the Rockets pick?

Current projection if season ended today: No. 26 overall

Oklahoma City is owed the two best picks between theirs, the Clippers, and the Houston Rockets while the Wizards will get the worst of the three.

As of right now, the second-best looks like it will come from Houston.

How did the Thunder get the Mavericks pick?

Current projection if season ended today: No. 35 overall

Oklahoma City will also receive the best second-round pick between their own, the 76ers, and the Dallas Mavericks.

As of right now, the Mavericks look sluggish out of the gates and that means their pick would go to Oklahoma City.
