Should the Boston Celtics trade for Ja Morant? The Celtics are of course neck deep into a retooling season, and thus looking under every rock and pebble for additional talent to add to the roster for whenever star forward Jayson Tatum is ready to return to pursuing titles. But that talent does need to make sense for Boston to pull the trigger on any big deal, and despite the evident skills of Morant as a floor general, there are several reasons the Celtics might pass on such a move.
For one, the reason he is available has much to do with how he has made a very public spectacle of his current dissatisfaction of the team’s direction and his role in it. And he is no stranger to disciplinary action from his team and the NBA alike. If that does not frighten one off, his dip in production and significant contract ought to at least give proponents for such a swap pause.
