The Sacramento Kings (3-9) visit the Minnesota Timberwolves (7-4) tonight for a Friday night matchup at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Sacramento has dropped four straight, and its defense is the primary culprit. The Kings have surrendered 132.5 points per game during this skid, including a 144–117 home loss to these same Timberwolves last week.

Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Domantas Sabonis all topped 20 points in that game, but the defense completely collapsed — Minnesota put up 40 points in both the second and third quarters. While the Kings have faced a brutal schedule featuring the Denver Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder, and a surging Wolves team, their defensive issues remain glaring.

Minnesota, meanwhile, has stabilized after briefly losing Anthony Edwards to injury. Edwards has returned in dominant form, averaging 32.7 PPG over his last three games and 27.1 PPG on the season. Julius Randle carried the team in Edwards’s absence and continues to be a strong secondary scorer at 25.4 PPG with 6.2 APG, while Jaden McDaniels adds 18.4 PPG.

With six players in double figures, the Wolves own the league’s sixth-best offense at 121.2 PPG and are playing their best basketball of the season.

Prediction

The Kings simply don’t have the defensive resistance to keep up with Minnesota’s firepower, especially on the road. With the Wolves rolling, Edwards in peak form, and a clear matchup advantage, Minnesota should control this game from start to finish.

Prediction: Timberwolves 124, Kings 115
