Jalen Brunson seems to have avoided the worst.

He has a Grade 1 right ankle sprain, per a league source — the lowest severity possible. 

But what exactly does that actually entail, and what does that actually mean for Brunson’s outlook? 

“A typical ankle sprain is a range of stretching up to tearing of the ligaments on the outside of the ankle, that support the ankle from the lower leg to the foot,” Dr. Spencer Stein, a sports orthopedic surgeon at NYU Langone Health, told The Post. “A Grade 1 would be simple stretching without tearing — a minor stretch.
