The Brooklyn Nets (1–11) visit the Washington Wizards (1–11) tonight in a meeting between two teams trying to claw out of the league’s basement.

Both clubs come in with similar profiles: youthful rosters, defensive collapses, and frequent double-digit losses.

Washington is giving up 129.7 points per game, one of the worst marks in the NBA, while Brooklyn isn’t far behind at 123.3. The Wizards have dropped 10 straight; the Nets would still be winless if not for a victory over the Indiana Pacers — the only team joining them in the one-win club.

The Nets continue leaning heavily on Michael Porter Jr., who leads the team with 23.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, but they’ll again be without No. 2 scorer Cam Thomas (21.4 PPG). His absence has opened the door for rookie Egor Demin, who flashed promise with a 16-point outing against Toronto. With Washington’s porous defense, he’s in another position to produce.

The Wizards, meanwhile, are powered by second-year big man Alex Sarr, who leads them with 19.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. Kyshawn George (15.8 PPG, 4.5 APG) gives Washington another steady option, but like Brooklyn, the defensive end remains the glaring problem.

It’s rare that both teams enter a game expecting to win — but one of them will leave with a sorely needed second victory tonight.

Prediction

With Washington playing at home and slightly healthier, they hold a modest edge. Expect a relatively high-scoring game — with little defense.

Prediction: Wizards 129, Nets 124
