The G League’s OKC Blue had a 121-107 loss to the Mexico City Capitanes on Sunday. The road defeat drops their record to 1-3 on the season.
Both teams kept it close to start. The Blue and Capitanes were tied at 24 points apiece after the first quarter. As Mexico City created a small lead, OKC only scored 24 points in the second frame. It entered halftime in a manageable 52-48 deficit.
The third quarter is where the Blue fell behind. Tied at 68 points apiece, the Capitanes scored 10 consecutive points. It was the first double-digit margin of the game. OKC only scored 29 points in the third frame. It entered the fourth quarter in a 90-77 hole.
The Blue couldn’t make any last-minute comeback attempts. They scored 30 points in the final frame, but Mexico City was fine with going back and forth. The Capitanes led by as many as 21 points.
The Blue shot 43% from the field and went 12-of-39 (30.8%) from 3. They shot 13-of-17 on free throws. They had 18 assists on 37 baskets. Six Blue players scored double-digit points.
Meanwhile, the Capitanes shot 49% from the field and went 17-of-41 (41.5%) from 3. They shot 18-of-19 on free throws. They had 27 assists on 36 baskets. Eight Capitanes players scored double-digit points.
