A late run by James Harden and the Los Angeles Clippers nearly stole a game from the Boston Celtics on Sunday (Nov. 16) afternoon. But Boston managed to hold on to improve to .500 on the season with the win thanks to the Celtics having the mental fortitude to avoid crumpling against such an intense onslaught.

Boston point guard Derrick White was asked about what the team does collectively on the mental side of things when an opposing ball club goes off the way the Clippers did in the final moments of the Celtics’ 121-118 win this weekend. The Colorado native replied that “you’ve got to understand that it is a game of runs” via CLNS Media.

“Teams (in the NBA) are good, and I think when those times happen, you’ve just got to try to find a way to change momentum,” said White.

“Whether it’s offensive rebound, whether it’s just getting the stop and getting the steal … you could change momentum of just making a hustle play, whatever it might be,” the Colorado – Boulder alum added.

“So you’ve just got to try to find that play and know that there’s a lot of time as the game runs, and just keep trusting it.”
