Portland Trail Blazers rookie Yang Hansen neared a double-double on assignment in the G League on Sunday, helping the Rip City Remix in a loss to the South Bay Lakers.

Yang produced 21 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots in the 113-111 loss at the UCLA Health Training Center. He went 8-of-16 from the field, including 2-of-5 from 3-point range, in nearly 30 minutes as the Remix suffered their first loss (3-1).

The 16th pick in the draft found success using his size and mobility in the paint against the Lakers’ smaller frontcourt. He also drained a couple of key 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter to keep the Remix around until the final buzzer.

Yang debuted with the Remix on Friday, recording eight points, 13 rebounds, four assists, one steal and one blocked shot in a win over the Valley Suns. He finished by shooting 4-of-11 from the field in nearly 30 minutes of work on the road.

The 7-footer was assigned to the Remix on Thursday after playing sparingly with the Trail Blazers, totaling 29 minutes in five appearances. Trail Blazers interim coach Tiago Splitter hinted recently that Yang could see time with the Remix, with several players ahead of him in the rotation.

With the Remix off until Sunday, the Trail Blazers recalled him from the team. He will now rejoin the Trail Blazers ahead of their two-game homestand, beginning on Tuesday.
