The Brooklyn Nets were finally able to get their second win of the season after taking it to the Washington Wizards on Sunday in their 129-105 win. Brooklyn was able to leave D.C. with a victory thanks to the work of players like forward Michael Porter Jr. and guard Tyrese Martin, but the Nets suffered a loss to one of their rookies over the weekend.

The Nets announced on Monday that rookie guard Ben Saraf is out for Tuesday’s game against the Boston Celtics due to a left ankle sprain. Prior to releasing their injury report, Brooklyn announced that Saraf suffered his ankle injury during Saturday’s loss against the Maine Celtics, Boston’s G League afiliate, and that he would be re-evaluated in 10 days.

With Saraf out of action for at least the next week, the Nets recalled two of their rookies in guard Nolan Traore and forward Danny Wolf back to Brooklyn to potentially provide some depth against the Celtics. Saraf, along with Traore and Wolf, had been in Long Island on assignment so that he and his fellow rookies can get reps while head coach Jordi Fernandez shortened his rotation to just nine players.

With Traore and Wolf being brought back to Brooklyn, it’s possible that both of them could see some playing time against the Celtics, but it is also unlikely given where the Nets are at this point of the season. Brooklyn is 2-11, but they had to endure a seven-game losing streak and a four-game losing streak before they won both of their games this year so it’s possible that Fernandez will be locking in on winning more games.

Either way, if Fernandez changes his mind with regards to his rotation, then it’s good news that Traore and Wolf will be at his disposal just in case. As has been the case for the past couple of weeks, guard Cam Thomas remains out with his left hamstring strain and forward Haywood Highsmith is also out as he continues his recovery from having offseason surgery on his right knee.
