The Detroit Pistons (12-2) and Atlanta Hawks (9-5) meet Tuesday. Tip-off from State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Pistons vs. Hawks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.
2024-25 season series: Detroit won 3-1
Detroit routed the Indiana Pacers 127-112 Monday to pick up its 11th straight win. The Pistons covered as 8.5-point home favorites, and the Over (231) cashed. C Jalen Duren had 31 points — on 12-of-13 shooting from the field — and 15 rebounds in the absence of G Cade Cunningham (hip), who missed his third straight game.
Atlanta secured its fifth staight win with a 124-122 victory against the Phoenix Suns Sunday, covering as a 1.5-point road underdog with the Over (226.5) hitting. Three Hawks finished with at least 25 points, led by F Jalen Johnson (25 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists). The Hawks are averaging the most assists per game in the league (30.4) after finishing with 35 Sunday.

LEAN HAWKS (-110).
I have concerns about this Detroit offense on the second night of a back-to-back without the creation of Cunningham to fall back on. Meanwhile, Atlanta has been a top-10 team on both sides of the ball since Young’s injury, so look for Atlanta to give this tired and injured Detroit team fits and end the Pistons’ win streak.
This is a lean because the Pistons have proven that they can win even with major injuries across the board.
PASS.
I lean toward the Hawks to cover as -1.5 (+105) favorites, as Atlanta will be healthier and more rested than Detroit. However, with so much injury uncertainty on both sides, it’s best to pass here and bet the spread and/or total instead.
BET UNDER 229.5 (-115).
Both teams rank in the top 6 in defensive rating and in the top 10 in scoring defense. For Atlanta to win this game, its defense will have to be on point, as relying on your offense against this Pistons team is a death sentence. On the other side, expect this to be the worst Atlanta’s offense has looked since the Young injury, as scoring in the paint will be difficult against the Pistons.
