The Boston Celtics (7-7) face the Brooklyn Nets (2-11) tonight at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in a matchup that should bring Joe Mazzulla’s squad back above the .500 mark.

Boston is fighting to stay relevant in a stacked Eastern Conference without Jayson Tatum, and they’ve shown real resilience. Jaylen Brown is carrying the load at an elite level, averaging 27.4 points per game, and the Celtics have won three of their last four.

Their defense keeps them in games, and their high-volume three-point attack — 44.4 attempts per night, second-most in the NBA — gives them enough variance to beat the league’s bottom tier and occasionally steal wins from stronger teams. Efficiency remains an issue, but the volume itself is a weapon.

The Nets, meanwhile, are firmly in the race to the bottom. Their only two wins have come against one-win teams, including Sunday’s 129–106 victory over the Washington Wizards. Michael Porter Jr. leads Brooklyn with 24.1 points per game, but Cam Thomas — their No. 2 scorer at 21.4 — remains out.

That absence has opened more minutes for rookie Egor Demin, who has shown promise with 16 points against Toronto and 10 against the Knicks before cooling off. His development, along with that of the Nets’ other young pieces, will be the real measure of success in a season where wins will continue to be scarce.

Prediction

Expect a comfortable win for the Celtics as they rain threes on a hapless Nets defense at Barclays.

Prediction: Celtics 118, Nets 110
