The Los Angeles Lakers’ Crypto.com Arena has been a home to some amazing wins for the team. Some of these were made in a clutch; others were safe, easy wins for a dominant team in its prime, but they were all remembered and loved by the fans.
When the team changed the Staples Center’s name to Crypto.com Arena, it marked the end of an era. Experts such as CCN wrote about the importance of the decision, since one of the most beloved arenas was now sponsored by a crypto enterprise, showing how the team is changing and growing with time.
In this article, we’ll revisit some of those wins.
Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors — 128–97 (February 28, 2021)
This was one of the most impressive blowouts the team had that season, and what made it stand out was the fact that it didn’t require the effort from the biggest stars. The Lakers played strong defense from the start, controlled the game, and forced many turnovers.
Multiple players scored in double digits, and the roster as a whole came together for a great performance. The Golden State didn’t find its rhythm for the entire game, showing how dominant the Lakers were that season.
Lakers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder — 123–94 (November 19, 2019)
From the opening minutes of this game, it showed how strong the Lakers’ roster was in 2019. LeBron James and Anthony Davis set the tone early, easily collapsing Oklahoma’s defense and scoring at will.
Los Angeles dominated the tempo and shot especially well from mid-range. In the second half, when the lead was comfortable, the game became more of a showcase, which the fans greatly appreciated. AD and LeBron showed how powerful a duo they can be at home, and they repeated that success many times since.
Lakers vs. Charlotte Hornets — 120–101 (October 27, 2019)
The game will be remembered as the one in which Anthony Davis truly became a Laker. It was one of his early performances and the first in which he really showcased his abilities. He erupted with over 40 points, easily sealing the defense in the post, and Charlotte had no idea how to respond.
The Hornets, however, managed to keep the game respectable, and the Lakers never went over a 20-point lead, but that was quite enough.
