The Charlotte Hornets (4-10) visit the Indiana Pacers (1-13) tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis in a matchup between two teams at the bottom tier of the Eastern Conference.

Indiana’s predicament is comparatively worse. They’re one of only two teams that’ve won just one game this season, and the margins have been brutal.

The Pacers score an average of 108.9 points per game, while allowing their opponents 123.4 — a staggering -14.5 differential. Their lone victory was against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors last month.

Wins will continue to be hard to come by as the hits just keep on coming. Aaron Nesmith (18.1 PPG) will be out for around a month after injuring his knee last week.

Pascal Siakam (24.3 PPG) anchors the front court, while Bennedict Mathurin and Andrew Nembhard have returned after injuries to lead the back court. With Tyrese Haliburton out for the season, it seems like much of the rest of the roster is taking turns being sidelined.

Charlotte, meanwhile, enters on a three-game skid but has shown more offensive pop, averaging 116.5 points per game.

Defense remains a problem — they allow 119.7 — but they nearly took Monday’s game against Toronto, losing by just two points despite 66 combined from Miles Bridges, LaMelo Ball, and rookie standout Kon Knueppel. Knueppel, the No. 4 overall pick, is averaging 17.6 points and 6.0 rebounds in a strong start to his NBA career.

Prediction

Both teams are struggling, but Charlotte has a healthier roster and slightly better recent momentum. The Hornets should edge this one out.

Prediction: Hornets 118, Pacers 115
