The Washington Wizards (1-12) visit the Minnesota Timberwolves (9-5) tonight at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Washington enters as one of just two one-win teams in mid-November, and the season has quickly turned into an embarrassment. The Wizards own the league’s second-worst defense, giving up 129.6 points per game, and their offense isn’t making up the difference.

To make matters worse, they’ll be without leading scorer Alex Sarr (18.3 PPG), who is out with a toe injury. That shifts the scoring burden to Kyshawn George, but like most nights, this group is overmatched.

Minnesota, meanwhile, has won five of its last six. It’s been a soft stretch of their schedule, but Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle continue to look like one of the league’s more potent scoring duos, averaging 25.9 and 24.5 points per game, respectively, with Randle adding 6.1 assists.

The Timberwolves may have a gauntlet ahead in the Western Conference’s upper tier, but handling opponents at the bottom of the standings — like Washington — shouldn’t be an issue.

Prediction

Minnesota’s balance, firepower, and home-court advantage make this a straightforward matchup. The Wolves should control every phase and pull away early.

Prediction: Timberwolves 128, Wizards 103
