The Atlanta Hawks and the Detroit Pistons have quite the crowded injury reports ahead of their matchup on Tuesday night. On Atlanta’s side, the veteran front-court standout, Kristaps Porzingis, is dealing with knee soreness, which puts his status in question.
Amid Atlanta’s four-game road trip, Porzingis missed two matchups. During the Hawks’ November 12 matchup against the Sacramento Kings, Porzingis checked in for 23 minutes. He shot 41 percent from the field, dished out six assists, and came down with four rebounds.
When the Hawks continued the trip with visits to the Utah Jazz and the Phoenix Suns, Porzingis wasn’t active. Still, the Hawks managed to come out on top with wins in both matchups. At this point, the Hawks are in the midst of a five-game winning streak before playing the NBA’s hottest team.
Will Kristaps Porzingis Face the Pistons on Tuesday Night?
While Porzingis was upgraded for a moment, teasing a potential return to action, the Hawks will ultimately rule him out on Wednesday night.

So far, Porzingis has appeared in nine games for the Hawks this season. Seeing the court for 25.8 minutes per game as a starter, Porzingis has averaged 43 percent from the field and 31 percent from beyond the arc, scoring 17.3 points per game.
Along with his scoring, Porzingis has come down with 5.7 rebounds per game, while producing 3.7 assists. He also blocked 1.6 shots per game on the defensive end.
The 30-year-old one-time All-Star landed with the Hawks during the 2025 offseason. As the Boston Celtics looked to offload some big contracts during a gap year, Porzingis was included in a three-team deal between the Celtics, Hawks, and the Brooklyn Nets. He was a major addition for this Hawks team that landed a lot of praise during the offseason for the moves they put together.
Heading into Tuesday’s action, the Hawks hold a 9-5 record. Their five-game win streak trails only the Pistons in the Eastern Conference. Currently, the Hawks are tied with the Toronto Raptors for the East’s third seed. The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Pistons are second and first so far this week.
