The Chicago Bulls (7-6) take their road trip to the Pacific Northwest tonight to face the Portland Trail Blazers (6-8) at the Moda Center in Portland.
Chicago is coming off a much-needed statement win after dropping five straight, outlasting the Denver Nuggets 130-127 in a Monday night shootout.
Coby White sat out the second of the back-to-back, but the Bulls were lifted by Josh Giddey — in just his second game back from injury — who delivered 21 points and 14 rebounds. Kevin Huerter (20 points) and Ayo Dosunmu (21 points) added balanced scoring.
Both teams shot 47% from the field, but Chicago’s volume from deep (53 attempts) ultimately tilted the game. The Bulls blew an 18-point first-half lead and later a 13-point fourth-quarter cushion, but late threes from Huerter and Nikola Vucevic sealed the win.
White returns to the lineup tonight, giving Chicago a near full-strength rotation. He scored 27 points in his season debut on Sunday, a double-overtime loss to the Utah Jazz, picking up from where he left off after a hot close to last season.
Portland, meanwhile, has dropped three straight while allowing 135 points per game over that stretch. The absence of Jerami Grant (18.3 PPG) and Jrue Holiday (16.7 PPG) has thinned their offensive punch.
Grant is a game-time decision, but Holiday remains out — and now Shaedon Sharpe (22.6 PPG) is sidelined with a calf injury. That leaves more of the scoring burden on Deni Avdija, who is in the midst of a breakout season at 25.5 points per game.
Prediction
The Bulls’ momentum and healthier rotation give them the slight edge over a depleted Portland squad struggling on the defensive end.
Prediction: Bulls 126, Trail Blazers 119
