The Milwaukee Bucks will try to avoid a third consecutive loss as they host the Philadelphia 76ers tonight at 7 p.m. at Fiserv Forum.
It will also be the first of a handful of games without star Giannis Antetokounmpo, who suffered a left adductor strain in the Bucks’ loss in Cleveland on Nov. 17.
Milwaukee is 8-7 while the 76ers come in at 8-6 after having lost to Toronto in Philadelphia.
Is Giannis playing?
No. The 30-year-old will likely be out for about two weeks after suffering a strain of his left adductor in the game against the Cavaliers.
What is Giannis’ injury?
Initially diagnosed with a groin strain during the game in Cleveland, the team clarified the injury is actually a strain to the adductor. The adductor is actually a group of five muscles within the groin area on the inside of the thigh.
Antetokounmpo felt pain in that area earlier in the second quarter of the game before ultimately exiting to the locker room right off the court late just a few minutes before halftime.
“He was probably worried,” Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said following practice on Nov. 19. “The news was good. I thought he was in pretty good spirits about it overall. You don’t want to miss games, you don’t want to miss multiple games, but it happens. And when you do, you just gotta adjust, both him and us.”
Regarding the rehab process, Rivers said now the team and Antetokounmpo will have to thread the needle of staying active but not being so active the injury cannot heal.
“So, there’s a fine line,” the coach said. “The guys upstairs (the performance staff) know what they’re doing and I’m pretty confident we’ll get it right.”

The team beat Golden State on Oct. 30 and lost at Charlotte on Nov. 12.
AJ Green: “We really just gotta rally and come together and continue to find ways to get stops defensively, generate offense. It’s the cards that dealt for this extended period of time however long it is. We’ve got to win games and find ways to do that.”
