The Atlanta Hawks (9-6) visit the San Antonio Spurs (10-4) tonight at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio for a matchup missing several key stars..

Trae Young and Victor Wembanyama will remain out for several weeks. Atlanta could also be short-handed, with Kristaps Porzingis and Zaccharie Risacher both listed as questionable. San Antonio will be without Stephon Castle, their third-leading scorer at 17.3 points per game, due to a left hip flexor strain.

That puts even more offensive responsibility on De’Aaron Fox, who has given the Spurs a major lift since returning — averaging 22.7 points and 6.2 assists per game. He led them to two wins without Wembanyama, though both came against struggling opponents.

Tonight brings a tougher challenge. Atlanta has been surprisingly strong without Young, entering the night 8–3 in games he’s missed. Before Tuesday’s loss to the surging Detroit Pistons, the Hawks had won five straight. Jalen Johnson has emerged as their top option at 22.0 points per game, and Onyeka Okongwu has taken a major step forward, averaging 25.2 points over his last four outings.

Prediction

With both teams missing stars, this matchup should stay tight throughout. Atlanta’s improved balance without Trae Young and their recent scoring surge give them just enough firepower to edge out San Antonio on the road.

Prediction: Hawks 117, Spurs 114
