After a 105-99 loss in Sioux Falls to Nebraska in a game where Oklahoma posted its worst defensive rating of Porter Moser’s tenure, the Sooners got back in the win column with a 95-71 win over Oral Roberts, moving them to 3-2 on the season.
This was a game Oklahoma controlled from the jump. They leaped out to an early lead and at one point led by as many as 32. The Sooners also did a good job limiting turnovers and forcing steals, finishing with just three turnovers and 13 steals.
Oklahoma shot 35-69 (50.7%) from the field and 9-24 (37.5%) from behind the arc. Of the three buy games, this one felt the most complete.
Here are some quick takeaways from the win:

Mohamed Wague career-night
Mohamed Wague posted a career-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in 23 minutes, notably picking up just two fouls and staying out of foul trouble. He was 9-12 from the field and 2-3 from the free throw line. It was a really impressive showing — probably his best in an Oklahoma uniform.
This was the type of dominant game we haven’t seen from him yet. He was really solid down low. Still, Oklahoma doesn’t appear to have another option at center behind him, as Kai Rogers played just three minutes.
Jadon Jones makes his return
After missing all of last season with a back injury and the first four games of this season with an abductor injury, Long Beach State transfer and former Big West Defensive Player of the Year Jadon Jones made his Oklahoma debut.
Jones posted 8 points, two assists, and a steal in 13 minutes. He was 1-3 from deep and 5-5 from the free throw line. For a team that struggled so much on defense through the first four games, Jones looks exactly like the 3&D wing this team has needed.
Oklahoma has also needed his shooting on the wing. Tae Davis, Derrion Reid, and Jeff Nwankwo are a combined 4-40 from behind the arc this season. While offense hasn’t been an issue overall, having another shooter like Jones certainly helps.
Guard play impresses
It was another strong night from Oklahoma’s backcourt. Nijel Pack posted 18 points and four rebounds on 6-10 shooting from the field and an impressive 4-5 from behind the arc. Xzayvier Brown had just 9 points, but added four assists, three rebounds, and two steals.
Brown was 4-9 from the field and 1-4 from deep. He didn’t score a ton, but he managed the game well and was a very composed facilitator. Dayton Forsythe added 6 points and two assists on 3-4 shooting — all three makes were impressive looks.
Oklahoma will next take the court against Alcorn State on Sunday at 1:00 pm on SEC Network+. After that, it’s four straight high-major opponents: Marquette, Wake Forest, Arizona State, and Oklahoma State.
