Houston Rockets vs Denver Nuggets Preview

The Houston Rockets have been excellent so far this season. After briefly worrying their fans with two straight losses to open the year, they significantly raised their level and went on to win ten of their next eleven games. They enter this matchup in great spirits, helped by a run of five consecutive victories. During that streak they defeated, in order, the Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, Orlando Magic, and finally their strongest opponent in this stretch, the Cleveland Cavaliers – and they did it on the road.

Houston had little trouble securing that win, even though the outcome wasn’t obvious beforehand. The final score was 114-104 for the team from Texas. The Rockets dominated the first half and went into the break with a huge 17-point lead (57-40). However, a drop in focus in the third quarter allowed the Cavaliers to fully claw their way back, trimming the deficit to just one point early in the final period. Once Houston responded to that push, the rest of the game went smoothly, and they closed out the win without major issues. Alperen Sengun delivered a standout performance with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, while Kevin Durant added 20. The X-factor was Aaron Holiday, who scored 18 points, with several coming in crucial moments. Interestingly, the Rockets currently lead the entire league in three-point percentage at an impressive 42.3%. Their top scorer on the season is Kevin Durant with 25.5 points per game, closely followed by Sengun at 23.4. They’re also first in offensive rating at 124.6 points per 100 possessions, as well as in offensive rebound percentage at a remarkable 40.1%.

On the other side, the Denver Nuggets also have plenty of reasons to be pleased with what they’ve done so far. They actually own the better record coming into this matchup, with 11 wins and only three losses. Considering how those losses happened – all of them tight games decided in the final moments – it’s clear their record could have been even stronger. The most surprising of those defeats came just a few days ago when they fell at home to the Chicago Bulls, 130-127, with Nikola Vucevic knocking down the decisive three-pointer in the final half-minute. Still, that result didn’t shake the Nuggets much, as they bounced back with a comfortable road win over the New Orleans Pelicans, 125-118.

Denver controlled that game without major problems. They even allowed themselves to relax in the final quarter, which they lost 35-28, but still closed it out routinely. Nikola Jokic once again put on a brilliant performance, recording another triple-double with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists. Surprisingly, the only Nuggets player who outscored him was Peyton Watson, who dropped 32 points – a new career high. Watson’s emergence is an encouraging sign for Denver, especially given that Christian Braun, an important rotation piece, suffered a more serious injury and won’t return before the new year. Of course, the team’s leader is Jokic, who is posting absurd averages of 29.1 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 11.1 assists. On top of that, the Serbian center is shooting an incredible 73.2% on two-pointers and an excellent 40.1% from beyond the arc. Aaron Gordon and Jamal Murray also deserve mention for their consistently strong play. The Nuggets own the league’s second-best offense at 123.8 points per 100 possessions, and they’ve been terrific defensively as well, ranking fourth with 112.4 points allowed per 100 possessions.

Injuries and Suspensions

Houston Rockets vs Denver Nuggets Best Betting Tip and Prediction

The Houston Rockets enter this matchup in great spirits and fully motivated to defeat a major rival in the battle for the top of the Western Conference. They’re on a winning streak and look impressive on both ends of the floor. On the other side, the Denver Nuggets have been struggling a bit unexpectedly, first losing at home to the Chicago Bulls and then beating the New Orleans Pelicans with some difficulty. This game comes at a much better moment for the Houston Rockets, and we believe they will come away with the victory.
