The No. 2 Texas A&M women’s tennis team secured its spot in the NCAA Championship after a decisive 4-1 victory over No. 3 Michigan in the finals. This marks the Aggies’ second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament Championship.

Unlike their match against Tennessee, Texas A&M claimed the doubles point, heading into singles competition with a 1-0 lead. Michigan started strong, gaining early leads in most matches and entering the second sets ahead. Lexington Reed delivered the first singles point in a commanding win before Michigan responded with its only point of the day.

With a 2-1 lead, Mia Kupres extended the Aggies’ advantage to 3-1 after securing her match. Then, Nicole Khirin sealed the victory with a dominant 6-1 third-set win. Reflecting on the win, Khirin emphasized the significance of securing the doubles point:

“It was tough. We won the next game on my service game, and we just fought hard. We knew it was the most important, so we kept fighting, and it was all so hard. I think every teammate on this team was trying to push themselves as much as possible, and we all wanted to go back to the finals. We knew how important each point was, and I’m just really proud of my team for fighting.”

No. 2 Texas A&M will face No. 1 Georgia in the NCAA Championship final round on Sunday, May 18, at 4 p.m. CT. at the Baylor Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
