The Chicago Bulls face off against the Miami Heat, looking for revenge after a heartbreaking loss in April during the play-in tournament.
After a four-game road trip, the Chicago Bulls return home to face the Miami Heat on the first night of a back-to-back. The Bulls should have this game circled on their calendar, as their last encounter with the Heat ended in a devastating loss during the play-in tournament in April.
Bulls vs. Heat Preview
Head coach Billy Donovan needs to devise a game plan to counter Eric Spoelstra’s new offensive strategy, which does not utilize the pick-and-roll. This could be advantageous for the Bulls, given that one of their major weaknesses is defending against pick-and-roll plays. Aside from defensive concerns, expect a fast-paced game for all 48 minutes, as both teams rank in the top three in pace in the league. There isn’t a clear advantage for the Bulls over the Heat, so every player will need to perform at their best.
Most Improved Player candidate, Josh Giddey, must raise his scoring production after only having nine points against Portland in the last game. Miami will most likely run the same defensive strategy as they did in the play-in game, allowing their big men to leave Giddey open at the three-point line to provide help defense. Over his past five games, Giddey shot 30% from behind the arc. That needs to improve drastically if the Bulls have any aspirations of extending their two-game win streak.
