Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon will miss time with a right hamstring strain and will be re-evaluated in 4-6 weeks, the team announced Sunday.
Gordon sustained the injury in Friday’s 112-109 win over the Houston Rockets during NBA Cup play. He only played three minutes of that game before exiting and missed Denver’s 128-123 loss to the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.
Gordon, now in his 12th NBA season, has been with the Nuggets for five-plus seasons. He is the team’s third-leading scorer this season, averaging a career-high 18.8 points per game. He’s also averaging 5.9 rebounds per game and is shooting a career-high 44.4 percent from 3-point range. Gordon exploded for a career-high 50 points — with 10 made 3-pointers — in a 137-131 overtime loss to the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 23.
The Nuggets are 12-4 and in second place in the Western Conference as of Sunday afternoon, 3 1/2 games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder (16-1).
