The Toronto Raptors (11–5) host the Brooklyn Nets (3–12) tonight at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
Toronto enters the night on a six-game winning streak, helped in part by a soft stretch of schedule that included Washington, Charlotte, Indiana, and a previous meeting with Brooklyn. They did, however, notch a quality win over the Cleveland Cavaliers during that run. More importantly, their play has sharpened considerably.
The Raptors’ frontcourt has become one of the league’s most productive units, with Brandon Ingram (21.1 PPG), RJ Barrett (19.6 PPG), and Scottie Barnes (19.4 PPG) all delivering steady scoring. Jakob Poeltl has also boosted his offensive output, and Toronto’s defense — shaky early in the season — has tightened to fuel this surge. Poeltl will rest tonight, but the Raptors remain in strong form.
The Nets, meanwhile, come in battered but showing small signs of life after winning two of their last three. Michael Porter Jr. has been the catalyst, scoring 33 or more in both victories, while Nic Claxton has chipped in efficiently, averaging 17.5 points across those games.
They continue to manage the absence of Cam Thomas, their second-leading scorer, who is out until at least December. Much of Brooklyn’s season centers on the development of its young core, including first-round pick Egor Demin, who is getting real minutes but has yet to truly break out.
Prediction
Given Toronto’s superior form, home-court advantage, and the overall gap in performance between the two teams, the Raptors should control this matchup from the opening tip.
Prediction: Raptors 125, Nets 108
