The LA Clippers (5-11) face the Cleveland Cavaliers (11-6) tonight at 6:00 PM Eastern at the Rocket Arena in Cleveland.
The Clippers are coming in off a 131-116 win over the Charlotte Hornets last night — their best offensive performance in regulation so far this season, made possible by James Harden’s 55 points.
Tonight, Harden won’t have to do all the heavy lifting on the offensive end as he has this month. Kawhi Leonard will return from a 10-game absence tonight — a big boost for one of the league’s most sluggish offenses.
But LA will have difficulty competing with a deeper Cavs team that excels on both ends of the court. Cleveland will be without Jarrett Allen tonight, but they’ll have their three leading scorers available — Donovan Mitchell (30.3 PPG), Evan Mobley (19.0 PPG), and De’Andre Hunter (18.1 PPG) — along with Darius Garland, who will be playing his fifth game this season.
Leonard’s return will produce a more respectable result, but the Clippers will need more production from Ivica Zubac (16.0 PPG) and John Collins (11.6 PPG) to have a shot tonight.
Prediction
Even with Leonard’s return, the Clippers don’t have the secondary scorers that can match the Cavaliers’ depth. Expect a healthy margin for Cleveland as they take the win.
Prediction: Cavaliers 117, Clippers 109
