The New York Knicks (9-6) visit the Brooklyn Nets (3-13) tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The Knicks are glad to be back in New York after a frustrating two-game swing through Florida — first a narrow 115–113 loss to the Miami Heat last Monday, then a 133–121 defeat against the Orlando Magic on Saturday. In between, they escaped with a close win over a depleted Dallas Mavericks team.
The absence of OG Anunoby, whose elite defense and reliable perimeter shooting have been sorely missed, continues to shape their rotations. Tonight, they’re also without Landry Shamet, who has provided a much-needed scoring punch without Anunoby and will sit with a shoulder injury.
Still, the Knicks face an opponent they’ve already handled this season — a dominant 134–98 win earlier this month — and they’ll look to regain rhythm across the East River.
Brooklyn has won two of its last four, including an impressive upset over the Boston Celtics on Friday night. Both victories came on the back of Michael Porter Jr., who scored 33 and 34 points in those games.
But outside of Porter’s bursts, the Nets continue to struggle to generate consistent offense or stops, and the Knicks have more than enough firepower to control this matchup.
Prediction
Expect a comfortable Knicks win at Barclays as they overwhelm one of the NBA’s worst defenses.
Prediction: Knicks 125, Nets 105
