The first of likely more, the NBA announced that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander won the Week 5 West’s Player of the Week award for Nov. 17-23. The Oklahoma City Thunder went a perfect 4-0.

Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31 points on 60% shooting and 6.5 assists. Other nominees were Santi Aldama, Luka Doncic, De’Aaron Fox, James Harden and Nikola Jokic. Donovan Mitchell won the East’s version of the weekly award.

The Thunder have been the clear-cut best team in the NBA. They own the best record and point differential. Gilgeous-Alexander is back in the middle of another MVP race. His signature performance has been an efficient 30 points in three quarters.

It’s still early in the 2025-26 regular season, but the Thunder look like the team to beat. The reigning NBA champion has blown out teams left and right. All without Jalen Wiliams, too.
