Sacramento Kings vs Minnesota Timberwolves Preview

The Sacramento Kings have looked very poor this season. After 17 games played, Doug Christie’s team has recorded just four wins. Considering the roster the Kings have, it doesn’t seem like this team should be this bad or spending the season as one of the weakest squads in the Western Conference. They were on an eight-game losing streak, but then produced a huge surprise by defeating the Denver Nuggets on the road, with a final score of 128-123.

This was definitely the Kings’ most valuable victory of the season, especially given that the opponent was one of the best teams in the league and that Sacramento had already suffered two easy losses to the Nuggets earlier this year. The Kings were much calmer in the closing minutes, found better solutions, and one of the heroes of the win was Russell Westbrook, who scored 21 points against his former team, along with 11 assists and six rebounds. Dennis Schroder also added 21 points. Keegan Murray, DeMar DeRozan, and Zach LaVine made strong contributions as well. Over the course of the season, LaVine is the team’s leading scorer with 21.4 points per game, followed by DeRozan with 17.4. The team’s overall statistics clearly explain why the results have been so poor: Sacramento has the fifth-worst offense in the league with 110.4 points per 100 possessions, and their defense is even worse, allowing 122.9 points per 100 possessions.

On the other side are the Minnesota Timberwolves, who, although not spectacular, certainly have far more reasons for satisfaction than the Kings. Entering this matchup, the Timberwolves hold a 10-6 record, which is encouraging for them, especially considering they were without their best player, Anthony Edwards, for part of the season. They have been playing well recently, winning six of their last eight games. However, in their final test before this matchup, they suffered an unbelievable loss on the road against the Phoenix Suns, 114-113.

It seemed the Timberwolves were on their way to a routine victory, leading 113-105 with less than a minute remaining, but a series of inexplicable mistakes allowed the Suns to climb back, go on a 9-0 run, and steal a crucial win. Anthony Edwards was brilliant with 41 points, five assists, and four rebounds, while Julius Randle was the team’s second-leading scorer with 20 points. These two are the clear leaders of the team this season. Edwards is averaging 26.5 points per game, followed by Randle with an impressive 24.7. Minnesota has been excellent offensively, ranking sixth in the league with 120.3 points per 100 possessions, while they are also strong on defense, allowing 113.5 points per 100 possessions.

Sacramento Kings vs Minnesota Timberwolves Best Betting Tip and Prediction

Sacramento Kings have looked very poor so far this season and, except for the game against the Denver Nuggets, they have stood no chance against stronger and higher-quality teams. That was evident in the two games against the Timberwolves as well, where they lost easily and convincingly. Simply put, the Timberwolves come into this matchup in much better form and have a deeper roster than the Kings, which we believe will make the difference, and they should secure a win by a margin larger than the given handicap.
