BOWLING GREEN — Owen County High School graduate Teagan Moore has led Western Kentucky University to a 4-0 start in the 2025-26 men’s college basketball season.

The Hilltoppers have posted wins over Tennessee Tech, EKU, Tennessee State and Bethel (Tenn.). WKU rolled past Bethel 97-67 at E.A. Diddle Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Through his first four games in the 2025-26 men’s college basketball season, Moore is averaging 18.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Moore leads WKU in scoring and rebounding. In addition, Moore, a 6-5 guard, leads WKU in minutes (108).

Majoring in Exercise Science, Moore medically redshirted the 2024-25 men’s college basketball season.

As a freshman during the 2023-24 men’s college basketball season, Moore appeared in 28 of WKU’s 34 games, starting in one contest. Moore averaged 6.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while logging an average of 13.8 minutes per outing as a freshman. The Owen County High School product was twice named Conference USA Freshman of the Week. Moore posted double-digit point totals in four of WKU’s final six regular-season games, including a season-high 22 points against Louisiana Tech in the team’s final home matchup of the 2023-24 campaign. The productive Moore helped WKU claim its first-ever CUSA Tournament Championship and first conference title since 2013.

A standout for Owen County High School, Moore was named to the Kentucky All-Star Team as a junior and a senior. Excelling on the court and in the classroom, Moore was a seven-time First Team Academic All-State selection. He was a four-time All-8th Region honoree.

Moore scored over 3,300 points and claimed over 1,100 rebounds during his high school basketball career. He became only the eighth player in the state’s history to have at least 3,000 points and 1,000 rebounds. Moore led the state in career made free throws with 848. He averaged 31.7 points per game in his senior season, which was the third most in the state.

Moore and his WKU teammates were set to meet Vanderbilt on Paradise Island, Bahamas Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Ward in sophomore season at Georgetown College

GEORGETOWN — Owen County High School graduate Brax Ward is in his sophomore season with the Georgetown College men’s basketball team.

A 6-9 center from Owenton, Ward excelled for Owen County High School throughout his prep career. Ward earned numerous honors and accolades during his high school basketball career.

Georgetown College is 8-2 through its first 10 games in the 2025-26 men’s college basketball season. The Tigers have registered wins over Park, Arizona Christian, Morris, Kentucky Christian, WVU Tech, Midway, LSU Alexandria and Florida College. Georgetown has suffered losses to Indiana Southeast and Peru State.

The Tigers are scheduled to meet Mobile during The Show in Kingsport, Tenn., on Saturday, Nov. 29. The Show is a three-day basketball showcase held at the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center.
