Washington Wizards vs Atlanta Hawks Preview
Although we are not even in December yet, for the Washington Wizards this season is practically already over, and for the rest of the year they will be trying to lose as many games as possible in order to secure a better position in the upcoming NBA Draft. Fortunately for them, they won’t need to put in much effort to lose games, because the team looks scandalously bad and currently seems like the worst squad in the entire NBA. Aside from the victory over the Dallas Mavericks in their second game of the season, they have lost every other matchup. After 16 games played, they have just that one win and as many as 15 losses, making them the only team in the league with just a single victory so far. In their most recent game, they lost to the Chicago Bulls.
In theory, this team should be progressing from season to season, as they recorded 15 and 18 wins in the past two years, but judging by how things look now, it’s hard to believe they will even reach 20 wins this season. This is particularly concerning because their conference is noticeably weaker compared to the Western Conference, and many teams there are struggling, yet even that doesn’t help the Wizards show any significant improvement or even a hint that they are moving away from rock bottom. The offense has struggled, but it is still better than the defense, which is the worst in the league according to defensive rating. When it comes to rebounding, the Wizards are the second-worst team in the NBA, and when all these factors are combined, it is no surprise that they are performing so poorly and posting such awful results.
Unlike their opponent in this matchup, the Atlanta Hawks look quite solid, especially in recent weeks when their results have significantly improved. In their last nine games, the team has recorded seven wins and only two losses, which came against the Detroit Pistons and the San Antonio Spurs. All other matchups they managed to win. In their last two games, they defeated the New Orleans Pelicans and the Charlotte Hornets. After 18 contests, they hold a record of 11–7 and currently sit in a position that leads directly to the playoffs. Although it is still early in the season, they can certainly be satisfied, as even the second spot in the standings is not too far away.
What should especially please Hawks fans is the fact that their strong run began when Trae Young went down with an injury. Without their best player, the team tightened up, began playing much better defense, and started making life very difficult for opposing offenses. While it was expected that their defense might improve without Young, an even bigger leap occurred in their offense, where the ball moves much more fluidly and players constantly look for the best-positioned teammate. This is reflected in the percentage of assisted field goals — they are now second in the entire league, and that percentage has jumped from 64.5% to 73% in his absence. Jalen Johnson has recovered from the shoulder injury that kept him out for much of last season, and he appears to be a serious candidate for this year’s All-Star weekend. Nickeil Alexander-Walker has also made a huge leap compared to his seasons with the Timberwolves, which is expected given his expanded role.

Washington Wizards vs Atlanta Hawks Best Betting Tip and Prediction
There is no need to point out how much better the visitors’ situation is compared to the hosts’. However, the spread is quite high, so it seems much safer to take the option of fewer points than the offered total. There are several reasons for this, and the biggest one is certainly the visitors’ very strong defense, which should limit the home team to around 110 points. We also don’t expect the visitors to score 130, so in our opinion this option is the best choice.
