The New York Knicks (10-6) face the Charlotte Hornets (4-13) Wednesday at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Knicks vs. Hornets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

2024-25 season series: Knicks won 2-1

The Knicks handled business Monday night, cruising past the Nets in Brooklyn 113-100 while covering the hefty 12.5-point spread in a game that stayed comfortably Under (228.5). C Karl-Anthony Towns dominated the paint with 37 points and 12 rebounds, adding 3 assists and 2 blocks. G Jalen Brunson chipped in 27 points for good measure.

Charlotte’s skid hit 6 games Sunday, but the Hornets showed plenty of fight in a narrow 113-110 loss to the Atlanta Hawks. They covered as 8-point road underdogs and the Under (228.5) cashed. Rookie G Kon Knueppel stole the spotlight, pouring in 28 points and setting a franchise rookie mark with 7 made 3-pointers, while G Collin Sexton chipped in 22 points and 4 assists.

PASS.

The Knicks (-250) will extend the Hornets losing streak to 7 games on Wednesday, but I’ll take my wager to the spread with better odds.

BET KNICKS -6.5 (-110).

The NBA Cup angle matters to me too — New York has real incentive to not just win, but win convincingly, and the way they’ve been playing lately backs that up. Even without Anunoby and Shamet, this team feels organized, confident and way more reliable than a Hornets squad that’s clearly stuck in a skid.

Charlotte has now dropped 6 straight, and while Knueppel has been a bright spot, one hot scorer isn’t enough to fix all the other issues. The Hornets just don’t defend or rebound well, and that’s a problem against a Knicks team that thrives on physicality and second-chance points. New York routinely controls the glass, and that’s where I see them creating separation.

LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller being back is nice in theory, but if they’re even slightly limited, it’s hard to picture Charlotte hanging tough for 4 quarters. Meanwhile, the Knicks continue to look sharper with their spacing, ball movement and overall execution. They’ve been consistent in these favorite spots, and I trust them far more to play a complete game.

To me, this feels like one of those matchups where New York wears Charlotte down and creates a comfortable cushion late. I’ll gladly back the Knicks to cover.

BET UNDER 238.5 (-110).

I’m riding the Under here, and the numbers make it even easier to back. Four of the last 5 meetings between these teams have stayed Under, and New York has hit the Under in 3 of its last 4 games. Charlotte has topped 118 points just once in its last 10, while the Knicks have landed on 113 points in 3 of their last 4. Feels like another low-scoring grind.
