Since being traded for Luka Dončić last season, Anthony Davis was brought in with the expectation that he would help win a championship for the Dallas Mavericks. However, Davis has yet to show what he can do on the floor for the Mavericks, as he has been absent for most of his tenure with the team.

Rumors are now circulating that Davis may soon be traded by the Mavericks. Dallas’ front office gave a slight nod to the speculation when it previously stated that the star big man would be under observation for the next couple of months.

With all that in mind, what does Davis have to say about the ruckus surrounding him?

Anthony Davis Will Continue to Focus on What He Can Contribute to the Mavericks

While it may be concerning for a player to know he might be traded, Davis clearly understands the nature of the business. The star big man broke his silence and shared his thoughts on the trade rumors.

Davis says he’s aware of the trade talks involving him. However, it doesn’t bother him. For Davis, he will simply continue to do his job while he’s still suiting up for the Mavericks.

“Man, look. Y’all make it like we’re going to war or something,” Davis said (per The Dallas Morning News Mavericks beat writer Mike Curtis). “This is basketball. It comes with it… That doesn’t affect me. I’ve been in trade talks for a while. My job is to do what I do when I’m on the floor, play basketball, and try to lead this team. Whatever comes out of that, comes out of that.”

Getting traded is one of the biggest adjustments players must make in their careers. Not only do they need to get to know a new set of teammates and coaches, but they also must figure out their living situation

However, after playing 14 years in the NBA, Davis understands that the league is a business at the end of the day. Davis has been rumored to make his return to the floor from his right calf injury against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.
