The Oklahoma City Thunder will host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday. It’s the first matchup of the season between the two squads. It also counts toward the 2025 NBA Cup West Group A standings.

The Thunder (17-1) have won nine in a row. They enjoyed some revenge in their 122-95 win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 37 points and seven assists in three quarters.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves (10-7) dropped a shocking 117-112 OT loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday. Anthony Edwards’ efficient 43 points weren’t enough to overcome the upset.

Well, that second quarter felt like it was played in mud. Both sides looked lethargic. Gilgeous-Alexander went into a heater late and has 19 points. Let’s see if the Thunder can produce better results on the offensive side after the break.

So far, this is your classic OKC-Minnesota matchup. Ugly, low-scoring affair. A lot of defense. Gilgeous-Alexander has six points and four assists. The Thunder finished strong in the first quarter to retake the lead.

A couple of offensive rebounds keep a possession alive for the Wolves. McDaniels knocks down the corner 3-pointer. Thunder call a timeout.

The Thunder will start Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cason Wallace, Lu Dort, Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein. The Timberwolves will start Anthony Edwards, Donte DiVincenzo, Jaden McDaniels, Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert.
