A Connors State College basketball player has died on Tuesday.

Ethan Dietz has died at the age of 20.

He was a sophomore at the Warner, Oklahoma, community college.

School spokesperson Shannon Rigsby explained that initial findings indicate that he had suffered a head injury during a game.

“The Cowboy family has suffered an unimaginable loss,” the school’s statement said. “Ethan exemplified what it means to be a Cowboy, to value hard work and being part of a team.

“While the team and the Cowboy community are processing our own grief, our hearts go out to his family and friends.”

Several men’s and women’s basketball games at Connors State College have been cancelled following Dietz’s death.

This news comes after Monroe University guard Amira McCleod was killed in a triple-shooting in Long Island, New York on Saturday.

High school star Jaiquawn Jay also died on Tuesday after collapsing during a practice session in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dietz was from Vilonia, Arkansas.

He was six-foot-eight and played in the NJCAA Division I.

The sophomore played eight games for the Cowboys this season.

Dietz averaged 11 points during these games.

He featured for Connors State earlier on the day of his death.

The rising star had eight points and four rebounds during his 20-minute appearance before being injured.

Connors State’s statement goes on to explain that his death will inspire the college.

“Ethan’s loss reminds us all how precious life is and how much those around us impact our lives.”

The college will hold a vigil in his honor on Monday, December 1.
