New York Knicks star Josh Hart had $185,000 worth of watches and jewelry stolen from his New York City hotel room earlier this year.
Around 12:30 p.m. on September 5, Hart dropped off his luggage, which included a case containing three watches and a bracelet amounting to $185,000 in value, at the Dominick Hotel in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan, as first reported by the New York Post.
The Knicks forward returned to his hotel room around an hour later to find his valuables missing from inside his duffle bag. The theft only recently became public and no arrests have been made, according to police.

The hotel at which Hart’s jewelry was stolen resides on the corner of Spring Street and Varick Street in Lower Manhattan and is about a 45 minute walk directly south from Madison Square Garden, where the Knicks play their home games.
The robbery occurred in the first week of September, more than a month before New York’s NBA season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 22.
Hart will earn a base salary of $19,472,240 in the 2025-26 season, having signed a four-year, $80 million contract extension with the Knicks ahead of the 2023-24 season.
A nine-year NBA veteran, Hart was traded to the Knicks in February 2023 after stints with the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, and Portland Trail Blazers.

He has been one of the team’s best and most reliable players ever since, and was a key piece in New York’s first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years last season.
In three-plus seasons and 241 total games with the Knicks, Hart averages 11.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.
He has played in 42 playoff games with the franchise across each of the last three postseasons.
Best known for his fast-paced, physical, and versatile style of play, Hart led all NBA players in minutes played per game (37.6) last season and set a Knicks franchise record for most triple doubles in a single season, with nine.

The Silver Spring, Maryland native played college basketball at Villanova alongside current Knicks superstar teammates Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges.
He was selected by the Utah Jazz with the 30th overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft, although he was dealt to the Lakers later that night.
Hart is not only a beloved Knick, but a passionate New York Yankees fan, as well. During the 2025 MLB season, Hart called for Yankees slugger Aaron Judge to win the American League MVP award, which he later did.
Hart’s grand-uncle is former Yankees All-Star outfielder and six-time World Series champion Elston Howard.
