An NBA trade idea sending Trae Young from the Atlanta Hawks to the Phoenix Suns has been created.

NBA writer Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report created the following trade idea:

Phoenix Suns get: Trae Young

Atlanta Hawks get: Jalen Green, Nick Richards, Rasheer Fleming, a 2027 first-round pick (via UTA, CLE or MIN) and a 2029 second-round pick

“If Phoenix wants to lighten the load on Devin Booker, Young could make that happen,” Buckley wrote. “He commands constant attention from opposing defenses for both his prolific playmaking (the reigning assists champion) and deep scoring range. Let those two loose in the backcourt, add in the Suns’ size and length up front, and maybe you’ve just made the Suns into a true two-way problem.”

Young is currently out with a sprained MCL in his right knee. The Hawks are playing well without Young, which is why many people around the NBA believe Atlanta could part ways with the point guard.

Extension talks between Young and the Hawks “haven’t progressed,” according to NBA insider Brian Windhorst of ESPN. Young, one of the top scorers and passers in the league, is eligible for a four-year, $229 million extension.

A four-time All-Star, Young has played in five games this season. He’s averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 assists per game while shooting 37.1% from the field, 19.2% from 3 and 82.1% from the free-throw line.

Young is making $45.9 million this season.  He can become an unrestricted free agent next offseason by declining his 2026-27 player option worth $48.9 million.

An Oklahoma product, Young has career averages of 25.2 points and 9.8 assists per game. He led the Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021.

The Suns and Hawks are 12-8. There haven’t been any rumors connecting Young to Phoenix, but that could change as the season progresses.
