The Golden State Warriors take on the New Orleans Pelicans Saturday night for their fourth game of this five-game homestand. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on NBA TV and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
The Warriors were eliminated from the NBA Cup Group Stage after Wednesday night’s 104–100 loss to the Houston Rockets. Even with Houston playing without leading scorer Kevin Durant, Golden State struggled to contain the league’s top-ranked offense. Second-year guard Reed Sheppard erupted for a career-high 31 points, continuing a trend of opposing perimeter players having big nights against the Warriors’ defense.
After the game, Jimmy Butler didn’t hold back, calling out the Warriors’ defensive effort.
What to watch for tonight:
The Warriors will be without Steph Curry, who is expected to miss about a week after suffering a quad injury late in Wednesday’s loss. Golden State will also be without center Al Horford, while Jonathan Kuminga is listed as questionable as he works his way back from a knee injury.
Tonight’s game also marks Kevon Looney’s first return to the Chase Center after spending 10 seasons with Golden State. Drafted in 2015, Looney became a staple of the Warriors’ championship identity through his rebounding, durability, and leadership. He didn’t play in the first matchup between these teams earlier this month, but his return to the Bay is expected to be an emotional one for both Looney and the franchise.
