Johnson, who finished with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists, including a key 3-pointer over Suns guard Devin Booker, helped lead Denver to a commanding 130-112 win in the desert.
The 3-pointer over Booker led to an exchange of words on the court, something that brought a smirk to the former Suns’ face after the game.
“It feels great, man,” he said to Burn City Sports’ J Russell. “And then to get the win on top of it. That’s what it’s about. I love coming here and getting a win. A lot of credit to a lot of guys tonight that put in a great effort.”

The scoreboard told one story, but Denver still struggled to contain the Suns’ Dillon Brooks in the first half. Brooks finished with 27 points for Phoenix, the most on the team.
While the Nuggets needed to neutralize Brooks to keep him from remaining a factor, Johnson revealed they didn’t plan to focus on stopping him alone. Instead, he said, the goal was to slow the entire team.
“Go zone a little bit, mark it up a little bit,” said Johnson. “[The] guys had great effort to guard the ball.”

With a team effort and a win in the Valley, Johnson and the Nuggets moved back into fourth place in the Western Conference with a 14-5 record.
For the Suns, it’s back to the drawing board to figure out what needs improvement before their next game.
