SAN ANTONIO — One of the big stories we’re following this week is the latest on the DWI charges filed against a San Antonio city council woman.
Ivalis Meza Gonzalez will be able to keep her driver’s license, at least for now. This comes after leaders with the San Antonio Police Department confirmed an arresting officer missed the administrative license revocation hearing for the district 8 councilwoman.

Meza Gonzalez was arrested July 24. According to the arrest affidavit, Meza Gonzalez failed a sobriety test, refusing to give blood samples, or take a breathalyzer test.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, that’s supposed to result in a 180 day suspension of a driver’s license.
The councilwoman was set to have that hearing in front of the state office of administrative hearings Thursday, but the case was dismissed after the officer who arrested her missed the hearing.
We reached out to SAPD to ask what happened.
Leaders there confirmed the officer missed Meza Gonzalez’s hearing but they did not say why.
We are still pressing for answers on this still developing story including:
Why was the officer a ‘no show’?How often does that happen?Gonzalez and her attorney have made no comment, which has us looking into whether she’ll fight the charges or accept a plea deal?
We’ll continue to work to get answers on this story and others.
