The Dallas Mavericks seem to be a franchise lost in transition as the new NBA season continues on. Following a trade of star guard Luka Doncic, this team somehow won the NBA Draft lottery, giving them a chance to select rookie sensation Cooper Flagg from Duke University.

But things have gone off the rails a little to open the year, and Dallas doesn’t have a strong path forward. This has led to the general manager, Nico Harrison to be fired already, and there is now talk about the team trading some of its more key players.

One of these players is star Anthony Davis, whom the Mavericks landed for Doncic. Davis could likely net the Mavericks a strong trade return, but whether the team actually moves him remains to be seen.

Anthony Davis Traded to Miami Heat

As the Mavericks explore different routes to go for the remainder of the season, the idea of them trading away Davis has grown louder and louder. Dallas may want to fully enter into a rebuild around Flagg, and trading away Davis’s large contract could be the answer to make it happen.

One team that could make a play to go after Davis, if he is made available, is the Miami Heat. Miami needs to do something to pull itself out of being stuck in mediocrity, and adding an All-Star like Davis could help.

The Heat have some contracts that they could send over to the Mavericks to help facilitate the deal, with the centerpiece being Andrew Wiggins due to his salary. This would give the Mavericks a chance to stay somewhat competitive while also freeing up space for the future in the present.

For Miami, Davis would be a big addition, and he could help terrorize opposing teams next to star center Bam Adebayo. For a long time, Davis has wanted to play next to a quality center, and he could get his wish playing for the Heat.

The twin towers of Davis and Adebayo would make life very tough on opponents trying to score in the painted area, and this could push Miami to be much more competitive on the floor. Davis is one of the better two-way players in the NBA, and he could help electrify this offense as well.

The trio of Davis, Adebayo, and guard Tyler Herro could give Miami a chance to contend in the Eastern Conference this season and beyond. Even with the injury concerns with Davis, the Heat may be willing to take this gamble because of the potential impact that the All-Star can make.

Many around the league seem to have forgotten how good a player Davis can be, and this could be the perfect chance for him to remind everyone. Miami would instantly vault into title contenders again, and Davis would likely welcome the chance to play for an organization like the Heat.
